Mindfulness in Nature Workshop
Next Workshop TBD
The goal of this workshop is to learn how to integrate mindfulness practices into your time in nature (and how to integrate nature into your mindfulness practices!). We will begin our workshop with an introduction to mindfulness at the Evelyn Meador Library in Seabrook, then hit the trail just outside the library doors to put our new skills into practice. Come prepared to learn, relax, be present, get creative, and connect with a group of amazing women!
This workshop is in collaboration with the Adventure Mamas Initiative and you will register through their website at this link: https://adventuremamas.org/wellness-events/
Care Partners Caregivers Conference
Saturday,March 21, 2020 RESCHEDULED
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Nassau Bay, TX
"Caregiver Educational events are conferences and workshops that provide family caregivers with education and community resources that equips them to take better care of themselves and their loved ones." - Care Partners
I will be presenting a workshop at the Conference, entitled "Anatomy of a Family Meeting". Discussions about caregiving and end of life decisions are often uncomfortable and incredibly emotional. This workshop will answer: What is a family meeting? Who should be involved? How do we prepare? What questions should we ask? What if we don't agree? How do we implement what is decided on at the meeting? Participants will walk away with a better understanding of how to discuss the hard questions with compassion, dignity, and respect for everyone involved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend?
Any women over the age of 18 with an interest in nature and learning more about themselves! Participants do not have to be an established client of Kimberly or her co-facilitator, Heather Murphy, LPC. We are based out of Houston, but the retreat location in Bastrop is a 1 - 3 hour drive from most major cities in Texas.
What is a Therapeutic Process Group?
In process groups, 5-10 individuals meet face to face to share their concerns, challenges, and triumphs with 1-2 trained group therapists. The power of these groups lies in the unique opportunity to receive different perspectives, support, encouragement and feedback from others in safe and confidential environment. These interpersonal interactions can provide group members an opportunity to deepen their level of self-awareness and to learn how they relate to others.
Process groups are typically unstructured. There isn’t a specific topic for each group session, but these groups will focus on the unique challenges and stressors women face in their day to day lives. Participants are welcome to bring any issues to the group that they feel are important, and the primary focus of therapy in the group is on the interactions among group members. Everyone is encouraged to give support and feedback to others, and to work with the reactions and responses that other members’ contributions bring up for them.
Where will I be sleeping?
Participants have three options for sleeping quarters. The private campground has tent sites, RV sites, and two bunk houses. One bunk house has room for 1-4 people and the other has room from 1-3 people. The cost for bunkhouse upgrade is $70 and the additional cost can be shared among participants agreeing to room together. Participants also have the opportunity to rent a tent for a $25 fee. It is important to remember that if you are sleeping in a tent, you must bring your own air mattress, sheets/blanket and/or sleeping bag. Participants may bring their own RV/camper or tent. No cooking materials are required - all food and other materials will be provided.
Where is my money going?
The cost of the retreat includes the facility fee for the private campground; all food, snacks, and drinks; materials for art, mindfulness 101 class, mindfulness activities, and journaling; and therapeutic group fees.
